Gryphon Engineering Inc. was incorporated in 2022. The management staff is comprised of engineers who have been engaged in the field of construction management in excess of thirty years in Guyana and in the Caribbean. Mr. Darren Nurse and Mrs. Michel Swanston-Nurse, who are both engineers, are the two founding directors of the company. Mr. Nurse has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Guelph in Canada and has been working in Guyana from 1995 in Construction Project Management. He was employed with one of the largest construction firms in the country before branching off to form Gryphon Engineering Inc. Mrs. Swanston-Nurse possesses an undergraduate engineering degree and also a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph in Canada. She has worked in Barbados at Consulting Engineering Partnership as a project engineer/ project manager supervising numerous civil engineering projects. She has also worked with the Environmental Protection Agency in Guyana as Head of Department in Technical Services /Research Analytics.

The managing director is responsible for heading the operations and coordinating and providing oversight to all projects. He is responsible for preparing quotations and tenders which are client specific. The selection of the project team is also his responsibility. Each construction site is supervised by a site foreman, a person whom the managing director would have worked with previously. Only highly skilled site foremen are employed on a project basis. Depending on the complexity of the project, a civil engineer is employed on a contractual basis as required.
